Matching numbers are found on the frame, cylinder crane, and handwritten on the interior of either grip. This example is accompanied by a Charles W. Clawson Collection certificate of authenticity, signed by his wife Betty A. Clawson, which lists this revolver by serial number as being purchased from the Clawson collection. CONDITION: Metal components retain the majority of their original high polish factory blue finish, exhibiting some areas of wear and some scattered superficial marks from handling and storage. Grip straps show thinning to patina and some wear to gray. Nitre blued components show wear all around, with the frame screws retaining various degrees of their original factory finish. Mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips show few minor handling marks. A very attractive example of a Colt Army Special revolver that was formerly part of notable Colt author Charles W. Clawson's personal collection. MLW
