Savage slide with left side of slide having appropriate 3 line patent information with Savage "S" in flaming bomb. Right side with "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY". Half moon front sight, U notch flat top rear sight. Inside of slide with "S23S60 62S" on underside of firing pin channel. Barrel has "S / P" on left lug. Colt frame with "GOVERNMENT MODEL / C16682" on right side. Early relief mill cut slide release, checkered safety, checkered magazine release, checkered spurred hammer, short grip safety, flat smooth mainspring housing with with lanyard loop, long smooth milled trigger. Truncated diamond checkered walnut grips. Two tone dual pinned base magazine with "A" on lip for American Pin Co. CONDITION: Very good, retaining the majority of the Colt bluing with slide wear consistent with holster wear. Some silvering to reciprocating areas and high edges. Grip straps are essentially dove grey. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is very good with soft rifling. Clawson wrote that while Savage never produced complete firearms, some slides were taken post-War for rebuilds and others were possible used commercially. EW
