Colt Model 1878 external hammer shotgun made by Colt Firearms Hartford, Connecticut made in 1886. Damascus steel barrels with smooth concave rib with bead front sight and doll's head rib extension and "COLT PTFA MFG Co. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A." stamped on rib. Case hardened action with external hammers and double triggers. Walnut round knob checkered pistol grip stock with Colt hard rubber buttplate and German silver stock shield. Walnut checkered splinter forearm with latch release. CONDITION: Metal has worn to a silvery appearance with traces of Damascus finish and some light discoloration. Action has case colors in protected areas. Wood has usage marks and dings and has been cleaned years ago. Action has a little bit of a loose feeling with good mechanics and good bores. DLM
