Model 1883 Reichrevolver manufactured by V.C. Shilling & C.G. Haenel for the Imperial German military. Left side of the frame bears the manufacturer stamp "V.C.S. * C.G.H./ SUHL" within an oval with a "90" stamp just below the cylinder. Left side of barrel bears a German imperial eagle stamp. Military inspectors proofs are present on the frame and barrel. Steeple style fluted cylinder bears a German imperial eagle on the rear. Rear grip strap has its former unit marking "2.G.R.S.38." lined out and is followed by it's final unit marking "L.G.", indicating issue to the Royal Military Police or the Rural Civil Police. All numbers are matching, including the internals, screws, and 2-piece wood grips. Complete with a brown leather holster bearing the unit mark "L.G.06". CONDITION: Metal components retain fair amounts of their original blue finish, exhibiting wear all around that shows through to gray patina as well as showing some areas of light oxidation. Bright bore, exhibiting some areas of oxidation and retaining good rifling throughout. Smooth wood grips show scattered handling and storage marks, but are sturdy and serviceable. Holster is very good, showing some scattered handling marks and a few areas of age related cracking. Left rear holster strap is loose and no longer retains stitching. MLW
