An impressive lot consisting of original Imperial medals and a museum quality Imperial medal bar with corresponding ribbon bar for Baron von Richthofen. (A) The museum quality Baron von Richthofen medal bar is expertly constructed of original Imperial awards with ribbons which are correctly positioned in the same way period photos of the original Richthofen Medal bar displays. The ribbons are expertly folded and attached to the bars non-ferrous metal stiffener. The ribbons exhibit an even light patina throughout. The awards are neatly sewn to the ribbons through their eyelets with a thin cotton thread. The red backing material used is nicely hand stitched in place. A long brass pin and catch are attached to the reverse for mounting to a uniform. A few very small chips can be observed in the Bavarian Merit Cross, Wurttemberg Knights Cross, and Austrian War Merit Cross 3rd class. One of the enameled Laurel Leaves for the Order of the Iron Crown 3rd Class has broken off the award, but is still present. The 14 awards consisting this medal bar are in the order of: 1. Iron Cross 2nd class Prussia; 2. Order of the House of Hohenzollern, Knight's Cross with Swords Prussia; 3. Military Order of Saint Henry, Knight's Cross Saxony; 4. Order of the House of Ernestine, Knight's Cross 1st Class with Swords Saxon Duchies; 5. Order of Military Merit 3rd Class with Crown and Swords Bavaria; 6. Order of Military Merit Knight's Cross Wurttemberg; 7. Duke Carl Edward Medal with Swords Sax-Coburg-Gotha; 8. General Honor Medal for Bravery Hessen; 9. Cross for Faithful Service Schaumburg-Lippe; 10. War Merit Cross 2nd Class Brunswick; 11. Hanseatic Cross Lubeck; 12. Hanseatic Cross Bremen; 13. Hanseatic Cross Hamburg; 14. Order of the Iron Crown 3rd Class with War Decoration Austria-Hungary; 15. War Merit Cross 3rd Class with War Decoration Austria-Hungary. While this can not be described as the actual Medal Bar of Baron von Richthofen, it is both impressive in appearance as well as accumulating all of the various types of original medals he was awarded to construct such a Medal Bar. CONDITION: Excellent. (B) The Ribbon Bar consists of the same award as the Medal Bar. The bar is is nicely crafted using original ribbon and devices. The device for the Order of the Iron Crown 3rd Class is missing from the ribbon. Dark red staining can be seen on the bars left 5 ribbons. The green backing felt is neatly hand stitched in place and a long brass pin and catch are used for mounting to a uniform. CONDITION: Very good. (C) The Lippe-Detmold War Merit Cross 1st Class is made of brass with approximately 80% of the original gilding remaining. The reverse hardware of the cross is intact, but the catch might be a period replacement. A name is scrawled on the reverse. CONDITION: Very good. (D) The Bulgarian Order for Bravery is made of a silvered brass base metal which has developed a heavy patina. The red enameled arms of the cross have an even patina throughout. A small chip can be seen on the center discs white enamel. The reverse hardware is intact, but is missing a portion of the hinge. CONDITION: Good. (E) The Order of the Red Eagle Award is made of gilded brass with white enameled arms and center disc featuring a red Prussian eagle. No visible damage to the enamel can be observed. The crown is also made of gilded brass with an orange enameling. No maker marks can be seen on the ring. CONDITION: Excellent. (F) The Turkish "Gallipoli" Star is made of silvered brass with red enamel inlay. The medal features a simple hinge and pin attaching method with the maker mark of "BB&C" on the reverse. The medal has an even patina throughout. CONDITION: Very Good. D.W.
