Lot consists of (A) Japanese Izawa Jyuko Arsenal Type 99 Arisaka bolt action rifle with bayonet. Series "9" gun. Crisp mum on the receiver. No import mark found. Matching serials on the receiver, front band, bolt, extractor, firing pin and safety knob. Standard blade front sight with no sight ears. Rear sight with no anti aircraft wings. Original dull blued military finish. Light oil finished finger groove stock and hand guard. Smooth metal butt plate. No cleaning rod present. Includes unmarked bayonet with no scabbard. "115" is marked on the left grip panel. CONDITION: Metal retains 50% of its original finish with light surface rust on a bulk of the metal components. Stock has numerous handling marks and scratches. The cleaning rod button cut out has been removed and filled in. Bore is frosted with fair rifling. Mechanically fine. Bayonet is fair with rust forming on the handle/quillon. Grips show cracking and wear. Blade has not been sharpened. (B) Springfield 1898 Krag Sporter bolt action rifle. Made 1899. Typical markings on the left side of the receiver. Cartouche on the left side of the stock is partially visible, as is the circle "P" proof on the bottom of the wrist. Round steel barrel shortened to 24" and a 1903 style front sight base added. Krag style thick blade front sight. Model 1898 rear sight adjustable to 2000 meters. Original finish worn to a nice patina in some areas. Stock has been shortened as well, in addition to being sanded. Trap door smooth finish metal butt plate. CONDITION: Metal retains 70% of its original finish, worn to a brown/gray patina in most areas. Stock is very good, with minor handling marks and scratches. Bore is frosted, but does retain crisp rifling. Mechanically fine. JWA
