Mauser 98 Sporting Rifle built by J. P. Sauer and Sohn circa the 1920s. Blued tapered Krupp Fluid Steel matted full rib half round half octagon barrel with ramped blade bead front sight and 2 rear flip down notch rear sights. Rib marked "Mon Mauser: J.P.Sauer and Sohn". Blued 98 Mauser action with cut out for clip feeding (Most likely military action recycled after World War I) with military style 3 position safety with bolt number matching itself but not the receiver. Action controlled with double set triggers and blued floorplate with swing arm release. European walnut schnabel sporter stock with checkered pistol grip, steel grip cap, sling swivels, German silver stock shield and steel buttplate. CONDITION: 90% blue with some light freckling and edge wear. 80% original finish with light marks from handling and use. Good bore and mechanics. A nice rifle. DLM/CP
