Circa 1879. This model being one of the highest grade guns made by W & C Scott is an English built 10 gauge game gun with 30" browned Damascus steel barrels. Barrels are built with 2 - 7/8" chambers, extractors, smooth, tapered, concave game rib with a brass front sight bead. Chokes measure, left: Improved Cylinder and right: Improved Modified. Top of the rib is engraved "SCOTT'S PATENT TRIPLEX. W & C. SCOTT & SON, The Premier Quality (with Castle Logo) 10 Gt CASTLE STREET REGENT CIRCUS LONDON". Barrel flats show London black powder proofs. Bottoms of both barrels are stamped with the gun's serial number "24884". The case color hardened action has been decorated with scrolls. Each lockplate has "W & C SCOTT & SON" in banner along with scrolls. Bottom of action has matching scroll. The guns double triggers are protected by a trigger guard which extends to a full length bottom strap with matched scroll engraving, the guns serial number "24884" and with the Castle logo. Fences have matched scroll engraving which continues over to the top lever. The top lever is engraved "W & C SCOTT & SON PATENT". The actions water table has proof marks, Scott patent information inside a diamond, serial number and other Scott markings. The nicely figured walnut stock with vacant gold shield at top of wrist has drop points, checkered half pistol grip and is finished to an orange Silver's style rubber recoil pad. A matched checkered splinter forend with a lever release which is engraved matching the rest of the guns scroll. Remaining exterior iron metal is engraved with scroll and interior is case hardened. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrels retain 95% browned Damascus with some minor usage and handling marks. Bores are shiny and bright. Action retains much of its case color and is sound. Triggers work well. Stock is excellent with some light handling marks and has benefited from a renovation with metal being slightly proud of wood at bottom horns and towards rear of the top tang. Forend also with some light handling and storage marks. Nice period piece. CP
