Circa 1882. A vintage game gun once owned by the Perkins Railroad family. This gun has been built with 30 - 1/8" Damascus steel barrels. Barrels are fitted with extractors, concave raised rib, dolls head extension, and round brass front bead sight. Chamber length is 2 - 1/2". Rib reads "W&C. SCOTT & SON ." "PATENT TRIPLEX LEVER GRIP." "THE PREMIER QUALITY" "10 CT. CASTLE STREET REGENT CIRCUS LONDON". Barrel flats with London proofs and reads "12B, NOT FOR BALL" and "14". Chokes are left: Improved Modified and right: Full. The patent "BLOCK SAFETY" back action sidelock with patented crystal indicators is fitted with double triggers, gas ports, and the W&C Scott & Son patented top lever spindle. The action is auto-safe. "SAFE" is engraved just ahead of the serrated thumb safe slide. Action is nicely engraved with scrolls and waterfowl game birds. Trigger guard bow is engraved with scrolls and an Eagle perched on a mountainside rock. The dark English walnut stock with smoky marbling is fitted with a round knob (pommel) grip, gold shield bearing the owner's initials "R.F.P." for "Robert F. Perkins". Whose father was the President of the Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad which later became Northern Pacific Railway under J.P. Morgan. The buttstock is finished by a horn serrated butt plate with engraved screws. The guns splinter forend is built with the patented push-button release which is engraved with light scroll, castle and the word patent. Stock and forend with matched flattop checkering. Gun resides in an oak and leather case with paperwork including very rare and special proof house certification. CONDITION: Good. Barrels are tight on face and with some light interior and exterior markings. Barrels could use a re-brown. Action is sound and triggers are good. Stock and forend are both good with some handling marks. Case is good with marks from storage handling and use. CP
