Circa 1893. A 12 bore vintage game gun with London made 29 - 1/2" Damascus steel barrels. Barrels are fitted with ejectors, solid, flat filed, tapered raised rib, extension, and steel round front bead sight. Rib at breech reads "SCOTTS IMPROVED BOLT". Barrels read "W&C SCOTT & SON", "THE PREMIERE 10 CT CASTLE STREET" on right and "REGENT CIRCLE LONDON ENGLAND" on left. Chambers measure 2 - 3/4". Barrel flats are appropriately stamped 12, 12C and with London proofs. Bottom of left barrel also stamped with the gun's serial number "50102" on left barrel and with a "2" on the right barrel alongside if it's lump. Chokes are, Left: Improved Modified and Right: Improved Modified. The muted case colored sidelock action with crystal indicators is nicely engraved with game scenes of various birds. Waterfowl, grouse, woodcock, turkey, geese, quail, and heron. The action bar is engraved "W & C. SCOTT & SON". Top lever is engraved with a mallard standing drying his wings. The narrow double triggers are protected by a low-profiled trigger guard that is engraved with a few more game birds in a field. Trigger guard extends to a 3/4" length bottom strap which has the guns serial number engraved "50102", Castle and pair of flying game birds. Action is auto safe. the word "SAFE" is engraved ahead of the checkered safe slide. Action is also fitted with gas ports and its "Improved Cross Bolt". The reddish-brown European walnut stock with drop points, sharp diamond checkered round knob half pistol grip has a gold shield on top of grip and is finished by a horn butt plate. The matching splinter forend has been built with an Anson-styled push-button release. The forends escutcheon is engraved with a game scene of a bird. Remaining iron metal is engraved with leaves on vines. Gun is cased in a motor case styled single oak and leather case with a Holland & Holland replacement paper trade label. CONDITION: Very good. Barrels are slightly off face and have lost a some of their original brown. Action is sound, triggers are crisp and ejectors are in time. Stock is very good. Forend is very good. Case is good with signs of age and use, handle is off on one side. Nice gun. CP
