Gallagher American Civil War-era percussion single-shot carbine manufactured by Richardson & Overman in Philadelphia, PA. Total quantity produced about 17,000. 22 - 1/4" round barrel in .50 caliber with 6-groove rifling, 2-leaf flip-up carbine rear sight, and blade front. Plain walnut stock complete with staple with saddle ring, military buttplate, and patchbox (patchbox is empty). CONDITION: Very good for its age, with visible amounts of original bluing remaining mixing with a heavy brown-grey patina with age-related freckling throughout. Stock has darkened with age and is lightly sanded with no major cracks and light burnout near hammer. Action is tight and crisp. Bore is lightly frosted with crisp rifling. TON
