Colt's first large frame double action revolver which saw popular use in the West. 1899 vintage Colt Model 1878 double action revolver chambered in the classic .45 Colt cartridge. Reapplied nickel finish. 5 - 1/2" barrel marked with 1-line Colt address on top and "45 COLT" on left. Blade front sight and v-notch rear. 6-shot fluted cylinder. Checkered hard rubber 2-piece grips with rampant Colt logo. Lanyard loop hole has been filled in. CONDITION: Good. Nearly all of the reapplied nickel finish is retained with surface scratching. Grips worn with left panel showing heavy wear. Fine bright bore with sharp rifling. Lock up a little loose but functions appropriately. BAS
