Winchester Model 70 rare cross-style Super Grade carbine in special order .218 Bee caliber made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1941. Blued Winchester Proof Steel barrel with 2-line Winchester address and caliber marking "218 BEE". Gun has early style stippled hooded front ramp sight (missing hood) with dovetail for rear 22G adjustable sight (plugged). Underside of barrel is marked "218" with a "(Triangle) 1" and dated "38". Black matted finish action with Lyman 48 receiver sight, factory drilled front bridge, non-drilled rear bridge with cartridge slot, and cloverleaf pre-war style tang. Correct solid handle bolt handle with 3-position pre-war safety with electropenciled serial number "36280" on bolt body. Blued "Super Grade" marked detachable floorplate and trigger guard. Walnut checkered low comb pistol grip stock with Winchester log plastic grip cap, correct European style cheekpiece, black forend tip, blued Widow's Peak checkered steel buttplate, Super Grade style sling swivels with no sling, and uncut slot for Lyman peep. Blued detachable floorplate marked "-SUPER GRADE-" with blued trigger guard. CONDITION: 90% barrel blue with light edge wear. 90% action finish with some handling marks with bolt starting to turn a silvery blue. 90% blue on floorplate with light scratches. 90% varnish with sharp checkering and some usage dings and marks. Excellent bore and mechanics. A superb rifle. DLM
