Extremely rare configuration Winchester Model 70 Super Grade carbine bolt action rifle in extremely rare .300 Savage caliber made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1947. Rule lists there were 7,197 carbines made and only 404 .300 Savage caliber rifles made in total. Speculation is that less than 100 exist in this configuration. Gun has blued Winchester Proof Steel 20" blued round barrel with hooded ramp front sight, 22 G rear sight (plugged), and Lyman 48 rear receiver sight. Barrel is marked on underside "300 SAV" and dated correctly "46". Matted blued Type II clover leaf tang receiver with rear bridge factory drilled and 3-position Type II safety. Blued solid bolt handle with serial number of gun "72345" electropenciled on bolt. Blued quick detachable floorplate marked "SUPERGRADE" with Super Grade style 1" quick detachable sling swivels missing leather sling. Walnut checkered Super Grade style low comb stock with correct early style cheekpiece, black forend tip, black plastic grip cap with Winchester logo, and checkered steel Widow's Peek buttplate. CONDITION: 90%+ original barrel blue with light corner wear. 90% action finish with 2 small scratches on left hand receiver bridge. Bolt has operating marks with knob starting to wear silver. Floorplate has small scratches with 90% blue. Wood has 90% original varnish with some small usage marks and dings, and checkering is still sharp. Good bore and mechanics. An extremely rare and hard-to-find rifle in honest condition. DLM
