Colt Model 1911A1 semi automatic pistol. Made 1945. 2 line company address/and patent dates on the left side of the slide. "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" marked on the right side of the frame, followed by "M1911A1 U.S. ARMY". Crossed cannons cartouche behind the right grip panel. "VP" proof on the left side of the trigger guard. "G.H.D." inspectors marks on the left side of the frame, in addition to a "P" firing proof. High Standard contract barrel, marked "HS" on the right leg and "P" on the left. No serial number underneath the firing pin housing. Standard blade front sight and U-notch. Original parkerized finish on the metal component, minus the slide release which is blued. Checkered brown Keyes fibre grips. Blued steel magazine with an "R" on the lip. CONDITION: Metal retains 70% of its original finish with general wear and handling marks. Some areas are beginning to turn to a molten brown patina. Grips are excellent. Bore is frosted, but retains good rifling. Mechanically fine. Magazine has light finish wear. JWA
