Classic configuration of the European Threatre commemorative with serrated ramp front sight, square notch flat top rear sight, left side with oak leaf engraving and "WORLD WAR II COMMEMORATIVE / EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS", right side with "NORTH ATLANTIC · TUNISIA · SICILY / PLOESTI · SALERNO · ANZIO · NORMANDY · BASTOGNE · REMAGEN · BERLIN" with oak leaves en suite. Right side of dust cover with Rampant Colt (reversed from normal orientation, facing right), and "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. / HARTFORD, CONN, U.S.A.". Serial number behind slide pin. Two piece maple grips with inset Colt medallions. Small parts comprise narrow checkered hammer, checkered slide release, checkered safety, checkered magazine release, serrated short trigger, long 1911A1 grip safety, arched serrated mainspring housing with Lanyard loop. Magazine with "COLT / .45 AUTO" on baseplate. Housed in the correct case with correct insert with Rheims insert, depicting the surrender of Germany on May 7th, 1945. Case has the correct 7 inert nickel plated rounds. Accompanying pistol is a copy of Colt's Commemorative Edition of the American Heritage Picture History of World War II by Sulzberger. CONDITION: Pistol is in excellent condition, retaining virtually all of the nickel finish with some extremely minor marks from handling and storage. Extremely minor takedown mark from an improper reassembly of pistol. Grips are excellent and free of cracks of chips. Mechanically fine, bore is excellent with strong rifling. Case is excellent with some minor marks and evidence of repair on left side of lid. Book is good and all pages appear present, with several spots of damage to dust jacket that have been repaired with tape. EMW
