Belgian commercial Mauser action with hooded bead front sight on soldered on base with crosshatch engraving on the ramp. Left and right sides of the ramp are engraved with Germanic oak leaves. Top of barrel is signed "KURT JAEGER MAINZ". Barrel is profusely engraved with approximately 5 - 1/2" of German oak leaf engraving on a punch dot background. Rear sight base with a 2 leaf rear sight, 1 standing and 1 folding, base engraved with geometrics and crosshatching. German claw scope mounts on barrel shank and rear ring, engraved en suite with sight base. Receiver engraved in near complete coverage of oak leaf with punch dot background, with bolt and follower being jeweled. Bottom metal with further oak leaf engraving and accented with a gold inlaid stag on magazine plate with gold wire borders. Trigger guard with gold initials, looks to be "ALB". Walnut stock with incised carving of oak leaves around panels of checkering at forearm and pistol grip. Ivory and ebony inlays on forearm cap, forearm checkering, either side of stock over magazine plate, and pistol grip cap. Monte Carlo shadowline cheekpiece is accented by a carving of a stag and doe in a clearing on left side, right side with a hunting dog confronting a wild boar in a clearing. Horn spacer at rear of stock has been incised with geometrics. Black line spacer leads to a Wiesbaden waffle recoil pad (which, incidentally, is the club that Kurt worked out of before he moved to central Mainz). Sling swivels at forearm and at toe line. Accompanied by a rifle scabbard with slot for a scope, which is currently filled by a Nickel Zielfernrohre-Marburg Supra 4x81 scope with duplex reticle. CONDITION: Very good, retaining the vast majority of the custom finishes applied when the rifle was engraved with only some very minor marks from handling and storage. Engraving is crisp. Stock is excellent with carving somewhat softened by time. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is excellent with strong rifling. Scope is clear, scabbard is excellent with some rubbing to high edges with pliable leather. EMW
