Circa 1865. A vintage game gun with 26 - 1/2" browned laminated steel barrels. Barrels are built with 2 - 1/2" chambers. The barrel's rib is game concave, fitted with a small steel front bead sight and bolt lock-up extension. Rib reads "WW. GREENER No 48 DUKE ST ST JAMES'S LONDON", "LAMINATED STEEL INDESTRUCTIBLE BY GUNPOWDER". Bottom of barrels with appropriated Birmingham proofs, serial number "7278" and their signature elephant stamp ahead of serial number. Case colored pinfire action with engraved and checkered top lever. Action with early version of the "WW Greener Cross Bolt". The muted case colored action is engraved with intricate floral scrolls. Double-bladed triggers are protected by a floral engraved trigger guard which extends down to a long bottom strap. Bottom strap with gun's serial No. 7278 and light scrolls on and around screw heads. The long pinfire hammers are also engraved with floral scroll and thumb pieces are checkered. The rich, marbled, dark-colored English walnut stock is furnished with drop points, a strong diamond checkered English straight hand grip, and an oval for initials or family crest. The checkered buttstock is finished with steel heel and toe plates. The small and slender forend is 98% checkered and has engraved iron metal and cross pin release. CONDITION: Fair. Barrels with signs of indentations on interior and exterior and with signs of use. Action with traces of color and is sound. Triggers function normally. Gun appears to benefit from a re-stock. Forend with slight imperfection at cross pin fastener. CP
