Manufactured 1942. Half moon front sight, U notch flat top rear sight with "P" proof in front of rear sight, oriented to rear muzzle up. Left side of slide with 2 line 2 block patent information with intercepting pony. Appropriately numbered under the firing pin retaining plate to the frame. Barrel marked "COLT 45 AUTO" on left side of chamber, "P" on left side of lug, "G" in front of lug. Top of frame with "G" and flaming bomb proof. Spurred checkered hammer; checkered thick tab safety, slide release, and magazine release. Long 1911A1 grip safety, arched knurled mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Short checkered trigger. Left side of frame with Broberg stamp (appears to be a slight double stamp with one slightly askew), "P" proof near magazine release. Right side with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", serial number, and "M1911A1 U.S. ARMY" rollmarks. Coltwood grips with scoop lightening and reinforcing rings. Full blue magazine with "COLT / 45 AUTO". CONDITION: Excellent, retaining virtually all of the parkerized finish, with nicely visible 2 tone hardening line towards muzzle. Some very minor marks from handling and storage. Barrel with virtually all of the bluing with some very minor cycling wear to hood. There is some burnishing visible in corners of the Broberg stamp where it broke through parkerizaton. Mechanically fine, bore is excellent with strong rifling. This is a great example of a wartime gun. EMW
