1888 vintage Winchester 4th Model 1866 lever action saddle ring carbine, serial number 166391. 20" round barrel chambered in .44 Henry Rimfire with full-length magazine tube, carbine ladder rear sight, and German silver blade front. Two-piece plain walnut stock and forearm complete with carbine buttplate with storage compartment (compartment is empty). Comes with factory letter confirming configuration as a carbine and that it was shipped December 12, 1888. CONDITION: Good, with barrel and magazine tube turned a mottled dove-grey patina with scattered handling and storage marks throughout. Brass receiver is very good as cleaned and is overall a pleasing mustard patina. Stock and forearm are very good with no discernable cracks and are beginning to turn dark from age and handling. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand and is smooth. Bore is dark with visible rifling. TON
