Half moon front sight, U notch flat top rear sight. Left side of slide with "PATENT APR. 20, 1897 / SEPT. 9, 1902. DEC. 19, 1905. FEB. 14, 1911 / COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO." and "SPRINGFIELD ARMORY / U.S.A.", flaming bomb at rear of slide. Right side with "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY" and Eagle. Firing pin retaining plate with appropriate "S" proof. Barrel with horizontal "S" proof on right side of lug. Barrel bushing with "S" proof on inside of left leg. Frame marked with flaming bomb on left side, dust cover with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY". Right side with serial number. Checkered slide release with smaller than usual relief mill cut with "S" proof on interior. Checkered spurred hammer with characteristic checkering that runs to end of hammer spur, thin tab safety with relief mill cut, checkered magazine release, long smooth trigger, short 1911 grip safety, flat smooth mainspring with lanyard loop. 2 tone Springfield magazine with distinct folded wings and lanyard loop. CONDITION: Very good, retaining much of the blue finish, with some chocolate patina mixing throughout, primarily to slide and grip straps. Some silvering at reciprocating areas and high edges, and takedown mark. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is very good with strong rifling and some light frosting in grooves. This is a good example of a rare gun. EMW
