1870 vintage 2nd Model Winchester Model 1866 lever action rifle, serial number 45028. 24" octagon barrel chambered in .44 Henry Rimfire with flip-up rifle ladder rear sight, full-length magazine tube, and pinched blade front. Two-piece plain walnut stock and forearm complete with rifle forearm cap with provision for sling swivel and rifle buttplate with storage compartment (compartment is empty). CONDITION: Fair to good, with iron assemblies turned a heavy brown-grey patina with handling marks and age-related pitting throughout. Frame has been heavily cleaned at one point but is overall a matte mustard patina. Stock and forearm are good, with forearm being heavily cleaned with crack on right side. Stock is sanded and refinished and shy at tangs and does not fit well, with crack on right side near wrist and two repaired cracks at wrist near tang. Action is sticky but functions appropriately when cycled by hand. Cartridge elevator is loose and does not sit flush with action closed. Bore is dark with heavy abrasion and visible rifling. TON
