1927 vintage Winchester Model 1894 Trapper lever action saddle ring carbine, serial number 1004427. 15" round barrel chambered in .30 Winchester Center Fire (.30-30 WCF) with carbine flip-up ladder rear sight, full-length magazine tube, and carbine front sight. Two-piece plain walnut stock and forearm with very interesting carvings on the left side of stock near butt, possibly Native American. Markings include an arrow making a 90 degree turn to the right, an arrow pointed diagonally to the bottom left, a cross, and an inverted V with a line underneath. Markings appear to be period. Stock is complete with a carbine buttplate. Comes with ATF exemption letter classifying this carbine as a Curio and Relic firearm not subject to the National Firearms Act because of its scarcity and age as well as its considerable interest among collectors and a letter confirming configuration by George Madis (author of "The Winchester Book"). CONDITION: Very good, with a slight majority of the original bluing remaining on the barrel, with the balance of the gun turned to a dull grey patina with scattered handling marks throughout. Stock and forearm are very good with scattered heavy handling marks throughout and 2 small chips at upper buttplate tang. Action is sticky but works correctly when cycled by hand. Bore is bright and shiny with modest abrasion and crisp rifling. TON
