World War II Japanese 20 x 3 ship binoculars. The binoculars are marked "20 x 3 / Tokyo / No 77". Interestingly, this example is constructed of coated aluminum with brass lens shields. The binoculars measure approximately 27" long from end to end. CONDITION: The optics remain somewhat clear but the lenses exhibit scattered blemishes and the focus adjustments are seized. The original paint remains mostly intact but there are scratches and blemishes that are typical of wartime binoculars that were exposed to the conditions of the open ocean. There are some areas with significant chips in the paint but they have been preserved and have been spared from being polished. The rubber and canvas eye pieces have dried, bubbled, and cracked with age and are in poor condition. The binoculars retain their original mount and lens caps, the only thing needed to complete this set is a period mount. This is a nice pair of ship binoculars that have been preserved with their original paint. Overall good. JLD
