Underwood M1 Carbine semi automatic rifle. Made late 1942/early 1943 in the first block of 100,000 assigned to Underwood. The serial number is stamped on the heal, and in front of the rear sight. The barrel is Underwood production and is dated "12-42" under a flaming bomb ordnance proof. "P" firing proof stamped just in front of the bayonet lug, which is post-War Inland marked. Inland marked rear sight, while the front sight is marked "RIA" on the left side. "AOB" marked IBM slide and bolt. Trigger group is Inland marked. Stock is a post-War M2 "Pot Belly" style stock with a "TT" faintly stamped on the left hand side. "LW" marked on the inside of the handguard. Metal components were arsenal reparkerized post-War. Stock has a light oil finish. Includes a 15 round metal Union hardware marked magazine. CONDITION: Metal retains 90% or more of its reapplied finish with some wear and areas of dried grease. Stock is excellent with a few handling marks. Bore is clean with crisp rifling retained. Mechanically excellent. Magazine is excellent as well. JWA
