Manufactured in a small size for a child and traditionally given to children as a part of the May 5th Children's Day celebration. Set is housed in an urn shaped container painted black and comprises a kabuto helmet with a fearsome dragon maedate. Fukigaeshi with rudimentary tokugawa mon. 2 lame shikoro bound in silk and decorated with waves. Mabizashi gilt and decorated with a thundering cloud. Menpo in the form of a frowning warrior with 3 lame neck defense bound in silk. Dou chest piece bound in orange cord with gilt designs on suite with mabizashi. Kusazuri, sode, kote, cuisse skirt, all attached to dou, greaves are detached and able to be affixed separately. Kote with padded shoulders of navy blue with gilt floral designs. Greaves with a sea blue cloth wrapping decorated with florals, while armor facisimile are gilt and floral decorated. CONDITION: Good. Some cord wrapping is replaced with a orange/green/black/white cord instead of the orange cord. Some high edge wear is rubbing but no cracks or chips are visible. Kote shoulder pads of a more recent vintage than balance. This is a wonderfully presenting piece that would be sure to delight a child! EW
