Vietnam War Purple Heart and Bronze Star medal grouping identified to Staff Sergeant Ramon Aurelio Servera-Baez who was killed in action towards the end of the war. The grouping includes Servera-Baez's engraved Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Army Commendation Medal. The 3 medals are all government engraved. The other medals include his unengraved Good Conduct Medal and service medals from the Korean War and Vietnam. The Purple Heart is accompanied by the medal certificate. Ramon was born on August 16, 1933 and began his tour in Vietnam on July 15, 1970. Servera-Baez served in the Infantry as an indirect fire crewman and had earned the rank of Staff Sergeant In Vietnam, he was attached to the 198th Light Infantry Brigade, 1st Battalion, 52nd Infantry, D Company. According to records, Ramon was killed on January 2, 1971, his death being labeled as non-hostile action, accidental drowning. He is remembered through is medals, and is listed on Panel 5W, line 21 on the Vietnam War Memorial. CONDITION: All of the medals remain clean, and are well preserved. The engravings remain crisp. Some medals are marked "G1" on the reverse brooch. The certificate exhibits light staining and wear. Folder exhibits peeling on the reverse. Overall very good. JLD
