British Pattern 1853 percussion rifled musket dated 1862 with 39 - 1/4" .577 caliber rifled barrel with rifle rear sight and blade front. 1 piece plain walnut stock in 3 barrel band configuration complete with brass nosecap and buttplate. Stock is marked twice with "W&S" / "B" in an oval near trigger guard tang. Right side of stock is marked "WARD & SONS" / "MAKERS" near buttplate. CONDITION: Very good, with finishes turned a cleaned gray-brown patina with minor freckling and handling marks throughout. Stock is lightly sanded with cracks near bottom of lock and top tang near breech. Action is tight and crisp. Bore is dark with visible rifling. TON
