US M1822/28 flintlock musket manufactured by Harpers Ferry in original flint and dated 1838. 42" round barrel in .69 caliber smoothbore with no rear sight and integral brass front on Charleville style front band. Barrel is dated 1838 near breech and has typically seen "V" / "P" / (eagle) proof on left side above woodline. Lock is marked "US" / (eagle) ahead of cock and "HARPERS" / "FERRY" / "1838" behind cock. 1 piece walnut stock in 3 barrel band musket configuration with US marked iron military buttplate. CONDITION: Good, with iron assemblies turned an untouched brown patina with scattered handling and storage marks throughout. Stock is excellent as lightly cleaned with no major signs of distress. "NC" has been crudely carved in to stock on right side. Mechanically fine. Bore is dark. TON
