Marlin Model 1895 lever action rifle. Made 1897. Standard 2 line company address/patent dates on the barrel in front of the rear sight. "40-82" marked chamber. "MARLIN SAFETY" marked on the top of the receiver. "MODEL/1895" marked on the upper tang. Octagon barrel with blade front sight and buckhorn style v-notch rear leaf. Full length magazine tube. Case colored frame with the barrel and other parts being blued. Oil finished wood stock with fine checkering on the wrist and forearm. Bottom of the pistol grip looks to have been reshaped. Crescent metal butt plate. CONDITION: Metal retains 70% of its original finish with light wear and some patina. Case coloring is mostly worn, having formed a brown patina. Wood has dings and scratches. Bore is frosted, but retains strong rifling. Mechanically fine. JWA
