Sharps Model 1863 breechloading percussion carbine with 22" round barrel in .52 caliber rifled with folding ladder carbine rear sight graduated to 800 yards and blade front sight. 2 piece walnut stock and forearm with single barrel band, bar with saddle ring, and military buttplate. "E.A.W." cartouche on left of barrel and cartouche underneath saddle ring bar is faint but present. CONDITION: Good, with virtually all of the original finishes turned to a mottled brown patina. Stock has been lightly sanded as well as hand carved "W.I.I." in forearm on left side. Stock shows scattered handling marks throughout but no major cracks or repairs. Good mechanics, needs a replacement nipple as the original is corroded shut and is not in functioning condition. Bore is dark with abrasion throughout from use with corrosive black powder during the period and crisp rifling. TON
