Winchester Featherweight Super Grade cross-style Model 70 bolt action rifle made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1962 which is also the first year for the Featherweight/Westerner. Winchester Proof Steel barrel with hooded front ramp sight and Lyman fold-down rear notch sight with two-line Winchester address and caliber marking "264 WIN MAGNUM". Bottom of barrel is marked with an "F" and no date. Black matted finish action with correct drilled bolt handle and electropenciled number of rifle "551336" on bolt body. Action is marked underneath "458" for magnum action. Blued detachable floorplate marked Super Grade. Walnut checkered Monte Carlo pistol grip stock with correct steel grip cap, late style cheekpiece, and Winchester vented pad. Correct sling swivel studs missing swivels and sling. According to Rule, verified examples exist and are pictured in "The Rifleman's Rifle". It also stated that there were a total of 3,116 Featherweight/Westerner and an unknown amount in Super Grade. CONDITION: 90% plus blue with light edge wear and small handling marks. Bolt has started to turn slightly silver and there is some slight operating wear. 90% original varnish with a light coat of wax and some small handling marks. Good bore and mechanics. DLM
