Winchester 4th Model 1866 Saddle Ring Carbine built by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1883. Blued round 20" barrel marked "WINCHESTER'S-REPEATING-ARMS. NEW HAVEN. CT. KING'S-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED MARCH 29. 1866 OCTOBER 16. 1860". Gun has integral front blade sight fastened to barrel behind barrel band with adjustable rear leaf sight graduated and dated 1873, with blued full tubular magazine. Brass or Gunmetal frame with iron saddle ring and blued loading gate, stamped "1932" and "C" on lower left-hand tang under wood. Gun is still in original .44 Rimfire. Walnut carbine style plain buttstock stamped "1932" in top tang slot with correct steel trapdoor buttplate with correct brass tipped 4-piece cleaning rod inside. Walnut plain forearm held with barrel band. CONDITION: Barrel blue fading to a silvery patina with readable address. Frame possibly cleaned long ago and has now faded to a mellow golden appearance. Wood has aged finish with usage scratches and dings, with no visible repairs or cracks, and a light coat of wax. Shootable bore with crisp mechanics. A nice example of a 66. DLM
