Marlin Model 1888 lever action carbine. Made 1889. This is one of approximately 25 with a 20" barrel. 2 line company address and patent dates on the top of the barrel in front of the rear sight. Octagon barrel with German silver blade front sight and u-notch rear leaf. Full length magazine tube. Blued finish on the metal components. Walnut forearm and butt stock with a light reapplied oil finish. Crescent metal butt plate. CONDITION: Metal retains 50% of its original finish with most areas starting to form a light gray patina. Wood has handling marks and scratches. There is some chips around the edge of the top tang, on the right side. Bore is frosted with good overall rifling. Mechanically fine. JWA
