Gun is engraved with New York style scrolls on a punchdot background with about 50% coverage. Nickel-plated finish. 2-piece Mother of Pearl grips. Accompanying this revolver is a factory letter confirming serial number, caliber, barrel length, as well as shipment to Schoverling Daly & Gales in New York, New York July 28, 1884 in a shipment of 25 guns. Type of stocks are "Not Listed" and finish is listed as "Soft". At the end of the letter is a note that states "The word 'soft' which appears with the finish indicates subject revolver was shipped without final finishing for engraving outside of our [Colt] factory." CONDITION: Very good, with an attractive amount of the nickel plating remaining with areas of flaking throughout especially on areas that are handled frequently. Engraving is sharp and clear. Grips are excellent with light chips on high edges but are overall strong and well-fitting. Action is tight and crisp. Bore is frosted with moderate abrasion and visible rifling.
