Manufactured in 1865. It has an octagonal barrel with a 15-round tube magazine. Sling swivels on the left side of gun. German silver blade front sight and a ladder adjustable rear sight. The barrel address is "HENRY'S PATENT.OCT.16.1860 MANUFACT'D BY THE NEW HAVEN ARMSCO.NEW HAVEN CT." The serial number 8359 is on the flat behind the rear sight, it is also stamped on the lower tang, the top channel of the stock, and on the inside of the butt plate. It has a period sling with a nickel-plated buckle and a steel front sling swivel. It has the correct steel 4-piece cleaning rod in the cleaning rod compartment. The initials "AH" are scratched into the brass on the left side of the receiver. CONDITION: The barrel, lever, and magazine have turned a pleasing even brown patina with some slight finish in the protected areas. Brass action has mellowed. The wood fits the gun superbly. Bore is dark but shows lands and grooves. There are a few handling marks on the stock and action. Overall a great, unmolested Henry rifle. REW
