Springfield Type III Model 1795 flintlock musket made by Springfield Armory in 1812. 44- 3/4" round smoothbore barrel in .69 caliber with lug front sight with no rear sight. Barrel marked at breech with "P", "(Eagle head)", and "V" proof. Correct flintlock dated "1812" with remnants of "US" and "(Eagle)" markings. Walnut full military stock with three iron bands and iron hardware with buttplate dated 1812. Comes with original steel ramrod. CONDITION: Metal has been lightly cleaned with balance fading to a silvery patina. Markings on lock appear to have had help fading for some unknown reason with lock appearing to be correct and original to gun. Wood has lightly been cleaned with handling marks and dings. Small area of wood missing from ramrod channel. Gun has dark bore which now measures almost .74 caliber from shooting wear with crisp mechanics. DLM
