Lot consists of (A) Japanese Type 99 Arisaka bolt action rifle. Series 4 rifle made early 1940s at Nagoya arsenal. Mum is partially visible, but has been ground. No import mark found. Matching serials on the receiver, bolt, bolt components, front band and dust cover. Original monopod is also still attached to the rifle, as are the anti aircraft wings. Metal components retain their original military blued finishes. 2 piece stock and hand guard were sanded at some point. CONDITION: Metal components retain 70% of their original finishes with general wear. Stock has handling marks and scratches. Bore has some light frosting, but retains strong rifling. Mechanically fine. (B) German Mauser K98 bolt action rifle. Code "42" rifle made 1939 at the Mauser Oberndorf factory. No import mark found. Matching serials on the barrel, receiver, rear sight and trigger guard. Bolt does not match, but matches itself. "Eagle/655" Waffenamts on the receiver and various other parts. Original barley corn front sight with the rear sight adjustable for 2,000 meters. Original military blued finish on the metal components. Stock was duffle cut and sanded at some point, in addition to being reshaped at the butt. Of note, barrel is not cut. CONDITION: Metal retains 75% of its original finish with general wear and some brown patina forming on the barrel and receiver. Stock has handling marks and scratches. There is a crack on the left side, from the cross bolt to the top of the stock line. Sling hole was filled in at some point. Bore is frosted, but retains strong rifling. Mechanically fine. JWA
