A stunning example of the top lantern portion of a Blake's patent arm lantern. The base of this unit has been modified to include the former arm cuff portion of the counterweighted base component and includes the Blake's patent stamp. It was straightened to round and soldered to the bayonet fount cup. Missing is the counterweighted base normally found on this model. The brass wire globe guard is intact and needs to be resoldered. The globe is a stunning copper wheel engraved example with "Wm. Mitchell Conductor K & P R R" engraved inside of a floral and fern engraved cartouche. On the back opposite is an ornate engraving of an 1860s locomotive of the 4-4-0 wheel arrangement and a six-window passenger coach. A truly outstanding piece.
