Beautifully executed contemporary Kentucky rifle signed on barrel "W. Watson" and dated 2001. Rifle is styled after several well known original rifles made by Andrew Verner of Bucks County, Pennsylvania circa the late 1700's. Gun has browned 48" rifled, .50 caliber barrel with rifle sights. Siler-style flintlock signed in script "A. Verner" with pierced turned tail trigger. Maker duplicates Verner's artistry with incised carving behind cheek and raised work around lock and tang. The full curly maple stock has silver wire work, Verner's double-headed bird inlay on forestock, an engraved Hunter's Star on cheek, and engraved thumbpiece. Maker also integrates silver inlays on trigger guard and buttplate. Gun has brass hardware including a brass saddle plate with piercing and wonderfully engraved brass side opening patch box with release in toe. Comes with hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Gun is in excellent condition with brass patchbox lid not latching correctly otherwise this rifle appears to have been used very little and is a beautiful work of art. Good bore and mechanics. DLM
