US M-8 FLARE PISTOL.

World War II US M-8 37mm flare pistol. The right side of the frame is marked "E C V C / U.S. PROPERTY / PISTOL PYROTECHNIC M-8" inside of a triangle. The markings indicate that this flare gun was manufactured by Eureka Vacuum Cleaner Co. which was one of several companies who were contracted to make these pistols. The flare gun is marked with the U.S. Ordnance crossed cannons proof and "P" on the bottom of the grip. The barrel has studs so the pistol could be attached to flare ports in various aircraft. This example has a 9" removable brass extension which was possibly used for shooting lines or increasing trajectory. CONDITION: All mechanical components operate properly. There are various handling marks including scratches and scuffs. Plastic grips are complete. The brass barrel extension displays several dents. Overall Good. JLD
