Sharps single shot rifle. Original rifle made circa 1870s-80s. Company address on the barrel is partially obstructed by the added rear buckhorn sight. "J.R." is marked between the rear sight and "CALIBRE 40". Patent dates on the left side of the frame. Heavy octagon barrel with a globe front sight (missing aperture) and buckhorn v-notch rear. Rear aperture tang sight is also present. Double set triggers. Factory blued finished barrel. Case colored frame and hammer. Smooth lacquered stock and forearm and forearm. Fine checkering on the wrist. Checkered metal butt plate. CONDITION: Metal retains 50% of its original finish with general wear and patina. Case coloring on the frame is mostly lost. Wood has a few handling marks and scratches. Bore is heavily frosted with good overall rifling. Tight hammer. Mechanically fine with the set trigger working as it should. JWA
