Springfield Model 1898 bolt action rifle with bayonet. Made 1901. Boxed "JLA/1901" cartouche on the left side of the stock. Circle "P" firing proof on the wrist. Typical pedestal blade front sight, with a 1901 pattern rear sight adjustable to 2000 yards. Original blued finish on the metal components. Stock ahs the correct light oil finish. Includes an original "US" marked "1898" dated bayonet with metal scabbard. CONDITION: Metal retains 60% of its original finish with general wear and handling marks. Stock has dings, scratches and handling marks. Frosted bore with crisp retained rifling. Mechanically fine. Bayonet has general wear and some gray patina forming on the handle/hilt. blade has been lightly sharpened. Scabbard is very good with light wear. JWA
