Springfield Model 1892/96 Krag bolt action rifle. Made 1895, as a Model 1892 Krag. This rifle was later arsenal updated to 1896 pattern. The cleaning rod hole was filled in, and an 1896 type rear sight was added. There is a boxed "JLA/1895" cartouche on the left side of the stock. Circled "P" firing proof on the wrist of the stock. Original blade front sight on pedestal. Original blued finish on the metal components. Stock has a light oil finish. Smooth finish metal butt plate with trapdoor. CONDITION: Metal retains 50% of its original finish with general wear and some areas forming a gray patina. Stock has a few dings and scratches. Bore is lightly frosted with sharp rifling retained. Mechanically fine. JWA
