US M1861 percussion rifled musket produced by Savage Revolving Fire Arms Company in 1863. 40" round barrel in .58 caliber rifled with M1858 2 leaf rear sight and regulation blade front. Marked "V" / "P" / (eagle's head) on left barrel flat and dated 1863 near breech. 1 piece walnut stock in 3 barrel band musket configuration with iron mountings and US marked military buttplate. CONDITION: Very good, with barrel and iron mountings turned an uncleaned dull gray patina with light freckling throughout. Stock is strong and shows honest wear. Cartouche is illegible. Action is tight and crisp with 2 clear stops at full and half cock. Bore is clean and lightly frosted with well defined rifling. A very nice condition Model 1861 percussion rifled musket. TON
