Classic configuration of the S&W Model 1917 with blade front sight, notch sight in top strap, checkered hammer, butt marked "U.S. / ARMY / MODEL / 1917" and "No / 158032". "12811" and "(Eagle Head) / S2" on inside of crane, "158032" and "(Eagle Head) / S34" on underside of barrel, under ejector rod. Gun was then heavily customized with frame engraved with near complete coverage of flowing scroll with hatch shading, which extends to cylinder flats (gullets left unadorned), backstrap, and trigger guard. Barrel with light scroll where it meets frame, with 2 lines of straight florals running to muzzle. Hammer has had 3 cuts done horizontally on hammer to aid in grip. Thick ivory grips with checkered panels and retained by a single screw through brass escutcheon. CONDITION: Very good, retaining the vast majority of the custom finish with some silvering and light patination to high edges and operational areas. Some minor marks from handling and use, primarily visible on right side of barrel. Barrel blue is starting to plum. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand. Bore is very good with strong rifling and some frosting in grooves. EMW
