Colt Model 1911 semi automatic pistol with display case. Made 1918. "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" marked on the left side of the frame. Standard patent dates and address on the left side of the slide, with a rampant Colt pony behind the slide serrations. "MODEL OF 1911.U.S.ARMY" stamped on the right side of the slide. Barrel is later production, marked "COLT .45 AUTO", on the top. Circled "JM" inspectors stamp on the left side of the frame. Original blade front sight and u-notch rear. Original finish has worn and shows signs of cleaning. Original checkered wood grips. Includes a two tone blued steel magazine marked "L" on the lip, and a later production blued steel magazine with lanyard ring on the base. A custom made purple velvet lined, wood display case is also included. Inside the case, a note with the guns' serial number is attached to the top. A brass rampant Colt pin is stuck into the inside. An original 1918 dated manual and a reprinted World War I manual are included, in addition to oiler, tools, brass cleaning rod, and key for the case. CONDITION: Metal retains 60% of its original finish with general wear and signs of cleaning. A grayish patina is starting to form on the slide. Wood grips have wear to the checkering. Bore is clean overall with fine rifling. Mechanically fine. Magazines have general finish wear. Tools are fine, as are the manuals. Box is excellent with some light finish wear. JWA
