1853 vintage Colt 1851 single action percussion revolver, serial number 32454. 7 - 1/2" octagon barrel in .36 caliber rifled with single line Colt New York barrel address, cone front sight, and hammer notch rear. Silver-plated brass trigger guard and backstrap with blued frame. Matching serial numbers observed on trigger guard, butt, frame, cylinder, cylinder arbor, barrel, wedge, and rammer. 1-piece plain walnut grips. Recoil shield has been scalloped on both sides to prevent cylinder from hanging up on fired caps. Included is an article from the Fall 2019 issue of the Rampant Colt about this specific revolver as well as comparing it to a revolver that is in an identical configuration, a Colt "Wells Fargo" Pocket Model (The Book of Colt Firearms, page 109 figure D, serial number 140198). This is the only Colt 1851 Navy known in this configuration. CONDITION: Good, with virtually all of the original finish faded to a grey-brown patina. Frame shows traces of bright bluing in protected areas. Grips are well-fitting with handling marks and finish loss near butt. Action is tight and crisp. Bore is dark with sharp rifling. An interesting and unique revolver, that would only be enhanced with further research. TON
