Manufactured in 1883. This is the first successful double action that Colt manufactured with a run of just 166,849 guns being manufactured from 1877 through 1909. 2 line address on top of the barrel and a rolled caliber marking on the left of the barrel. Three line patent date on the left front of the receiver. Matching serial numbers on the frame, trigger guard, back strap and the back of the cylinder. 2 piece hard rubber grips. There is a star on the right rear web of the trigger guard. This indicates that it went back to the factory for work. There is a work order number "765B" under the grip on the left side and on the underside of the barrel. CONDITION: The action works in both single and double action. The action locks up tight and indexes fine. Gun retains 70% of the factory reapplied blue finish with most of the loss to the left side of barrel. The reapplied case color is 90%. Fair bore with some frosting in the lands and grooves. Grips show some slight wear. REW
