Round barrel made without sights, left side of breech "(Crown) / GR / (Broad Arrow)", "(Crown) / (Crossed Scepters)"; "(Crown) / 12" on right side. Bevelled edge lock with stamped "(Crown) / GR" with offset "(Crown) / (Broad Arrow)". Lock stamped in an arch at rear "TOWER". Light double-lined borders on lock and reinforced cock. Waterproof pan with bridled roller bearing frizzen. Tang with an indistinct Crown stamp, may be "(Crown) / 14" and with relief raised area. Belt hook with crown proof. Small "B" proof in trigger guard. Brass tipped ramrod retained by a single turned ferrule and feeding into an unreinforced mouth. Appropriate brass furniture. CONDITION: Excellent, with barrel having an even light chocolate patina with plenty of visible dove grey. Lock commensurate with barrel. Some pitting around pan on barrel and lock from use. Wood is excellent with some pressure dents and a few small chips. Mechanically operable. Bore is very good with a minimum of oxidation. This is a good example of a Napoleonic period pistol. EMW
